Appointment booking

Thank you for considering Professor Dworakowska for your outpatient consultation.  She is delighted to see both self-funding patients as well as patients with private medical insurance. She is recognised by several private medical insurers eg. BUPA, BUPA Global, AXA PPP, CIGNA, AVIVA, ALLIANZ, WPA and VITALITY. If your insurance provider is not listed here, please contact us if needed.

To book an appointment please contact Professor Dworakowska’s PA via telephone (Tel: 0203 927 4599, Mobile: 07951 649 638) or via email: pa@professordworakowska.co.uk, who would be able to help you to find the most convenient location to you.

The standard initial appointment will last up to 30 minutes and a standard follow consultation will last up to 15min. If you feel that you need a longer consultation, especially for a complex and multi-specialty consultations covering several diseases, please contact us to check if it is possible during the same appointment. While this may be convenient for you to have several conditions being discussed at once, this will require more time for the consultation and will result in additional charges.

Professor Dworakowska provides consultations in person only however during COVID-19 pandemic she is able to offer remote video and telephone consultations (phone@professordworakowska.co.uk and vidoe@professordworakowska.co.uk).

All clinical queries will be discussed during the appointment. If you had any tests done or arranged by Professor Dworakowska, the results will be discussed during the follow-up appointment.

Professor Dworakowska’s services do not cover medical emergencies therefore should you become unwell between the consultations, please do contact the emergency service at 111 or visit A&E without any delay.

You have chosen to see Professor Dworakowska privately and it is important that you are aware that she is a private endocrinologist. The tests you may need, can be only requested by her within private sector, not in the NHS setting.

Your consultation will be followed by a letter to your GP unless you do not wish your doctor to be informed. Whilst this is entirely your choice, letting your GP know about our action plan can help with your holistic medical care. Informing GP about your prescription alerts them to any interactions with other medication that they are prescribing you, they will often be able to continue prescribing through the NHS, which is less expensive.

Private Prescriptions issued during the appointment will not be charged additionally, but you will still have to pay for the medication itself at the pharmacy. If at any time, between the scheduled appointments, you would need a prescription, it will be prepared at the cost of £50, plus you will still have to pay separately for the medication itself at the pharmacy. You must allow enough time to ensure you do not run out of medication.

Your details will be stored in Professor Dworakowska’s Practice secure software. Your clinical data will only be shared with other healthcare providers upon your approval, usually other clinicians whom you have been referred to and who work closely with Professor Dworakowska.

Private Medical Insurance Patients

If you have private medical insurance, please contact your insurer before your consultation, to check the terms of your policy, particularly the level and type of outpatient cover you have, including any reimbursement limits on individual consultation fees. Professor Dworakowska’s Practice will not become involved in correspondence with insurance providers regarding payment of fees or for the tests/referrals.

Referral letter: To book an appointment it is a requirement of your private medical insurer that you have a referral letter from either your GP or another doctor. Please send a copy of the referral to pa@professordworakowska.co.uk  to secure first available appointment without delay.

Consultation Fees: The fees are agreed with your insurance provider. Please note you are responsible for any fees not covered by your insurer. If the insurance pays only partially, it is your responsibility to pay any outstanding charges.

Pre-authorisation information: To book an appointment, you will also need to provide a pre-authorisation code. This code should match the clinical need in the referral letter and be issued by your private medical insurer prior to your appointment.  Please send a copy of the pre-authorisation code to pa@professordworakowska.co.uk to benefit from reassured-fees agreed with insurance companies and to avoid being charged at a self-funded non-insured rate, if you do not have it available before the appointment.

Tests Fees: Following your consultation, you may need certain tests (such as blood tests or imaging, for example, an X-ray, MRI or CT scan) to help to diagnose your condition.  These tests are undertaken by clinics or hospitals, and not by Professor Dworakowska’s Practice, therefore the fees for those tests will be determined by the clinic or hospital and charged to you, or your private medical insurer, separately. Please note you are responsible for any fees not covered by your insurer.

Arriving for the appointment: Please arrive well in advance (10-15min) before your appointment to allow enough time for the reception desk to process your booking. If you are late for your appointment, the same rules and charges will still apply, even if you may not have enough time to discuss your case.

Cancellation policy: If you wish to cancel or re-schedule your appointment, you can do this by emailing us. A missed appointment means a lost opportunity to offer someone else an earlier appointment. A late cancelled appointment makes it very difficult to make the necessary arrangements with other patients to attend at very short notice. Therefore, Professor Dworakowska’s Practice charges £180 for any missed appointments as well as appointments cancelled/rescheduled less than two full working days before the appointment. Please note that you are usually unable to recover the cost of missed appointments or late cancellations/re-scheduling from your insurance provider.

We will collect debit/credit card details on confirmation of appointment, and we reserve the right to use these to take payment in full for any late cancellations/rescheduling, policy excesses for outstanding consultation fees or not attendance to appointment.

Referral letter: To book an appointment it will be helpful during the consultation to have a referral letter from either your GP or another doctor. Please send a copy of the referral to pa@professordworakowska.co.uk. You may also want to bring to appointment your previous results or relevant medical paperwork.

Consultation Fees: The fee for a standard initial consultation will not exceed £300 and my fee for a standard follow-up consultation will not exceed £250.  If the consultation relates to several problems across endocrinology/diabetes/general medicine, the fee for a complex multi-specialty follow-up consultation will not exceed £500. Please note payment is required in full in advance of your appointment. Non-payment will result in the cancellation of the appointment. If you are coming to obtain a 2nd or 3rd opinion referral, additional charges may apply.

Tests Fees: Following your consultation, you may need certain tests (such as blood tests or imaging, for example, an X-ray, MRI or CT scan) to help to diagnose your condition.  These tests are undertaken by clinics or hospitals, and not by Professor Dworakowska’s Practice, therefore the fees for those tests will be determined by the clinic or hospital and charged to you separately. Please note you are responsible for any of these fees.
